I am not to familiar with learning centers, but my school wants to do them. With my smaller classes, I was felt okay about the centers. My larger classes with 28 students in each are harder to manage in learning centers. I don't have much room for small groups with the bigger classes. I sure hope I can work it out.
I understand what you are dealing with since I too have classes with 20 to 27 students and space for small groups is a problem. My problem is the division into groups. Either the students refuse to work together or participate when in the groups, or they are too busy socializing and will not work on the assignment. We'll get it figured out though with some trial and error. Won't we???
ReplyDeleteI think it's all about relating the assignment to the student and having great classroom management. At least that's what I'm told, I wouldn't really know. haha. My kids do pretty well in groups, albeit loud, but all of my classes are huge, so I wouldn't know how it feels to have small groups, lol. Anyway, my brother is in one of your classes. I hope he's doing well. Garrett Self. You let me know if he even looks funny in your classroom and I'll eat him up! :)
